Adobe Systems' John Warnock Inducted into Computer
Reseller News Hall of Fame for Contribution to Technology Innovation
Adobe Products Honored with Industry Awards at Comdex
COMDEX, Las Vegas, NV, (November 17, 1998) - Adobe Systems
Incorporated announced that John Warnock, Adobe's chief executive officer and chairman of
the board, will be inducted into the Computer Reseller News (CRN) Hall of Fame at a
ceremony held today at the New York, New York Hotel.
This year's induction ceremony, which recognizes 10 of the industry's leading
innovators, marks the second year of the CRN Hall of Fame. Inductees are selected by CRN
editors and the Computer Museum, Boston.
"John Warnock is being inducted into the industry Hall of Fame by Computer
Reseller News for revolutionizing the desktop publishing industry," said Robert
Faletra, vice president, editorial director of CMP Media, Inc. and editor-in-chief of
Computer Reseller News. "Through Adobe and the PostScript(R) language, John is one of
the true pioneers of the information age."
For three decades, Warnock, who co-founded Adobe Systems with Charles Geschke in 1982,
has been respected as an innovator in the field of computer software. He has been granted
four patents, has contributed many articles to both technical journals and industry
magazines and is a frequent speaker on critical issues in the computer and publishing
industries.
Adobe Products Receive Industry Honors
Also at Comdex, Adobe swept the annual PC Computing MVP awards winning in several
categories. The PC Computing MVP Awards recognize the year's most outstanding business
computing products for their achievements in usability, innovation, performance,
technology, and value. The four award-winning Adobe products chosen for distinction were
Adobe Illustrator(R) 8.0 in the Illustration and Design category; Adobe PageMaker(R) 6.5
in the Professional Desktop Publishing category; Adobe Photoshop(R) 5.0 in the
Professional Image Editor category; and Adobe Premiere(R) 5.0 in the Video Editing
category. Adobe PhotoDeluxe(R) Business Edition was a finalist in the Personal Image
Editor category
Home Office Computing, another highly-regarded industry publication, chose Adobe
Photoshop 5.0, Adobe PageMill(R) 3.0, and Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition as recipients
of Silver Awards.
