Cirrus Logic Patent Holders Honored
for Excellence in Technology
First Annual Patent Recognition Dinner recognizes achievements of 49 Cirrus Logic
engineers
FREMONT, Calif. - Nov. 19, 1998 - Cirrus Logic Inc. (Nasdaq:CRUS) today
announced it has honored 49 of its engineers at the company's first Annual Patent
Recognition Dinner. The event, which was held last night in a private ceremony at the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, recognizes the
achievements of Cirrus Logic's domestic patent holders for their excellence in technology.
The patent recognition dinner celebrated the technological achievements of engineers
from Cirrus Logic's offices in Fremont, California, Nashua, New Hampshire, Austin and
Plano, Texas and Broomfield, Colorado. Nine of the honorees, who hold more than ten
patents, were also presented with seats inscribed with their name in the Tech Museum's Hackworth IMAX theatre.
"We applaud the accomplishments of these engineers for their contribution to
Cirrus Logic's rich portfolio of intellectual property," said David D. French,
president and COO of Cirrus Logic. In presenting the awards, French noted that
"Cirrus Logic's position as a premier provider of precision linear circuits and
advanced mixed-signal system-level chip solutions is built on a solid foundation of
excellence in technology. Thanks to the contributions made by the technologists being
honored tonight, our world class portfolio of over 800 patents continues to grow - adding
to our significant strength in mixed-signal technology, which is critical to creating
highly integrated system-on-a-chip solutions."
Chairman and CEO, Mike Hackworth commented, "It is quite fitting for us to
recognize the achievements of our innovators at the new Tech Museum. After all, its
mission is to inspire the innovator in people of all ages as it engages them to explore
and experience the advanced technologies affecting their lives."
Cirrus Logic's patent portfolio continues to keep pace with its focused R&D
investments. In fiscal 1999 to date, Cirrus Logic filed 78 applications and was granted
100 patents, up from the 93 patents awarded during all of fiscal 1998 - which ended March
28, 1998. The company's leadership in precision-linear and mixed-signal technologies was
also recognized by the
International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), which recently selected three
technical papers authored by Cirrus Logic engineers. The ISSCC, the foremost global forum
for the presentation of advances in solid-state circuits, will be held February 15-17,
1999 in San Francisco.
Cirrus Logic is a premier supplier of precision linear circuits and advanced
mixed-signal system-level chip solutions, the latter of which demand high-performance
mixed-signal processing, embedded DSP, algorithms and firmware. The company's products,
sold under its own name and the Crystal product brand, enable high-volume applications in
mass storage, communications, consumer electronics and industrial markets.
