MICRON'S RENDITION DIVISION TO
OPEN DESIGN CENTERS IN UK
AND PACIFIC NORTHWEST
Sunnyvale, Calif., December 7, 1998 - Rendition, a division of Micron Technology
and supplier of award-winning, multi-functional graphics accelerators for the PC, today
announced plans to expand its design capabilities and open two new engineering facilities
in the Bracknell, England area, and in Portland, Oregon. Rendition was acquired by Micron
in September 1998 to develop and produce embedded DRAM graphics accelerators and has been
actively recruiting skilled engineers across multiple disciplines worldwide. These new
design centers, combined with Micron's state-of-the-art manufacturing resources and
embedded DRAM (EDRAM) technology, should enhance Rendition's position as a graphics
provider.
"By recruiting a worldwide network of engineering talent, Rendition is positioned
to introduce graphics technology which outperforms today's accelerators by an order of
magnitude," said Dr. David Burrows, Director of Engineering for the UK Design Centre.
"We are excited to acquire the talent to allow us to develop embedded technologies
for the mainstream graphics arena."
The Bracknell-based team will initially be comprised of employees who were formerly
part of LSI Logic Corporation and will be combined in the same facility as Micron Europe
Limited, the UK semiconductor sales group.
"The Oregon site is well situated to tap into the highly-skilled pool of technical
laborand to attract engineering professionals to the desirable Greater Portland
area," said David Gray, Director of Engineering for the Northwest Design Center.
"We expect continued growth as the market for EDRAM graphics and other embedded
technologies expand."
"Rendition is vigorously recruiting talented engineers eager to join the EDRAM
graphics revolution," said John Payne, Vice President of Micron's Rendition Division.
"We'll continue to assemble our pre-eminent graphics design team to help us achieve a
superior level of graphics performance."
