TELLABS AWARDED OPERATIONAL HEADQUARTER STATUS IN SINGAPORE

Tellabs announced that Tellabs Singapore Pte Ltd is receiving its Operational Headquarter
(OHQ) status from the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Singapore. This award is given
in recognition of Tellabs' achievement in building Singapore as a regional information and
services hub.
Jimmy Tan, vice president and general manager for the Asia-Pacific region; Jukka Harju,
vice president and general manager of Tellabs Oy, and other Tellabs representatives will
take part in a ceremony that includes the presentation of an OHQ certificate by the
chairman of EDB, Philip Yeo.
"The OHQ award signifies a shared commitment between Tellabs and EDB to build
Singapore as an information and services hub," said Tan. "This is an exciting
milestone for Tellabs. Being closer to our customers allows us to focus on delivering
solutions and services that meet customers' needs."
This effort encompasses the setting up of regional training center as well as Tellabs
Singapore providing HQ support to its offices in the Asia Pacific region, covering the
region from China to Australasia and India to Japan.
OHQ status is awarded to companies that provide support functions, including general
management and administration; business planning and development; technical support
services; marketing support services; marketing control and planning; training and
personnel management, and corporate finance advisory services.
Tellabs designs, manufactures, markets and services voice and data transport and
network access systems. The company's products are used worldwide by the providers of
communications services. Tellabs stock is listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market (TLAB).
